The Sun Safety Alliance and EIC’s SUNSCAN AWARDS
Did You Know…
Annually, there are more cases of skin cancer than breast, lung, colon and prostate combined. One person dies every hour from skin cancer.
The SSA is committed to reducing skin cancer and increasing awareness of the importance of sun safety and skin cancer prevention efforts.
Since 2003, the SSA has partnered with the Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. to increase awareness of the importance of depicting sun-safe behaviors onscreen.
Together, the SSA and EIC have provided briefings, print and online resources for creators of entertainment. The organizations have worked closely to involve make up artists to advocate sun protection as a safety factor for outdoor production activities. Uniquely, sun safety is becoming a valid concern of on camera talent with the advent of the revealing high definition television. SSA and EIC have also produced a powerful PSA, launched on CBS, and currently being seen via the internet and local TV stations.
SSA and EIC created the first-ever recognition program for entertainment productions that address sun safety and skin cancer awareness and prevention, the SUNSCAN AWARDS.
If your production takes place outdoors or on location, we encourage you to get in touch with EIC for information, and resources. If your storytelling touches on sun safety and skin cancer consider entering the SUNSCAN AWARDS,
